What Are Growth Charges?
Sellegr8 implements growth charges to make sure that users who exceed the limits of their current subscription plan due to sales volume or number of Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) can still continue to operate without needing an immediate plan upgrade. These charges are in place to ensure fairness in resource allocation.
1. Sales Volume Growth Charges
When your monthly order volume surpasses the limit of your current plan, Sellegr8 adjusts your billing accordingly:
- Temporary Plan Adjustment: If your order count exceeds your plan's limit, you will be charged the rate of the plan that accommodates your actual order volume for that month.
Example: Subscribed to the Starter plan (1,500 orders/month) but processed 1,600 orders in a month. You will be billed at the Growth plan rate (up to 3,000 orders/month) for that month.
Exceeding the Highest Plan: If you're on the highest available plan and exceed its order limit, an additional charge of $20 is applied for every 1,000 orders (or part thereof) over the limit.
- Example: On the Scale plan (8,000 orders/month) and processed 9,400 orders. The overage is 1,400 orders, resulting in an additional charge of $40 (2 x $20).
Key Points:
- No penalty fees are imposed solely for exceeding your plan's limits.
- Frequent overages may indicate the need to consider upgrading to a higher-tier plan that aligns with your order volume.
2. SKUs Growth Charges
All Sellegr8 plans support up to 2,000 published SKUs. If your account exceeds this number, additional charges apply:
- Overage Charges: A fee of $10 is added for every additional 1,000 SKUs (or part thereof) beyond the 2,000 SKU limit.
- Example: If you have 3,775 SKUs, this is 1,775 over the limit. This results in a charge of $20 (2 x $10) per month for the duration of the overage.
3. Managing Growth Charges
- Monitoring Usage: Regularly track your order volume and SKU count to anticipate potential overages.
- Plan Evaluation: Assess whether your current plan meets your business needs, especially if overages become frequent.
- Cost-Benefit Analysis: Compare the cost of growth charges against the benefits of upgrading to a higher-tier plan.
Have some questions? We've got answers!
What happens if I exceed my plan’s order limit?
If your monthly order volume exceeds your current plan’s limit you'll be billed the rate of the plan that matches your actual order volume for that specific month. This is called a “Growth Charge”, and it appears as a separate line item on your invoice.
Am I forced to upgrade my plan if I exceed the limit?
No, you are not required to upgrade immediately. Growth Charges offer a temporary billing adjustment without forcing a long-term plan change. This flexibility is ideal for businesses with fluctuating sales volumes.
Do growth charges recur automatically every month?
Only if your usage exceeds your plan limits. If your order volume or SKU count returns within the plan’s limits the next month, you’ll go back to paying the regular subscription price - no extra charges.
What triggers a growth charge?
A growth charge is triggered when:
- Your monthly order volume exceeds your plan’s limit.
- Your published SKU count exceeds the 2,000 SKU limit.
What are the growth charge amounts?
- Orders: If you exceed your current plan’s order limit, you are billed at the rate of the appropriate higher-tier plan for that month. If you exceed the highest plan (Scale: 8,000 orders/month), you are charged $20 for every 1,000 additional orders or part thereof.
- SKUs: A $10 charge per 1,000 SKUs (or part thereof) beyond the 2,000 SKU limit.
Can I choose to stay on my current plan despite frequent overages?
Yes, you can remain on your current plan as long as you're comfortable with occasional growth charges. However, if these charges become frequent or consistent, it may be advisable to upgrade to a higher-tier plan so you can enjoy the additional features and capacity of the higher plan.
Will unused orders or SKU capacity roll over?
No, all usage limits reset at the beginning of each billing cycle. Unused capacity does not carry over to the next month.
Can I see the growth charge on my invoice?
Yes, growth charges are transparently listed on your invoice under a line item labeled “Growth Charge”.
What happens if I exceed both SKUs and orders in the same month?
You will be charged separately for both overages:
- Order-based growth charge (based on your actual order count).
- SKU-based growth charge (based on the number of SKUs over 2,000).
